Sonitrol Security Team Member Featured in Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber News
Teresa Pratt is regional sales manager for Sonitrol Security of Delaware Valley. She is fast becoming a familiar face at GNPCC events, and has plunged feet-first into our activities. In addition to her sales ability, she is also a professional wildlife photographer. (Perhaps we can convince her to do a showing for GNPCC members and friends?) She recently agreed to answer five questions from Don Brennan about Sonitrol).
Why did Sonitrol decide to become a member of the GNPCC?
I became a member of GNPCC, because even though my sales region consists of Philadelphia County, I decided to concentrate my efforts in the Northeast Philadelphia marketplace. I knew that the Northeast is a unique area with a strong sense of loyalty towards supporting businesses in their own community. GNPCC has given me the opportunity to meet local business owners, network with fellow salespeople in my territory and has opened doors to other networking groups and opportunities. Being able to tell prospects in the Northeast that I am a member of their local Chamber helps me build credibility and a sense of belonging in the community.
Tell us about Sonitrol.
Sonitrol is the third-largest commercial security provider in North America and we’ve been around for over 50 years, serving over 180 cities in North America. We were founded by a police officer who was frustrated with bad alarm technology and never being able to capture criminals. Our alarms are designed to capture the bad guys.
Sonitrol of Delaware Valley was founded by Joe Allen, who was raised in Northeast Philadelphia. Joe has been in the security industry since 1974 and started as a technician at Sonitrol Philadelphia. In 1999 Joe founded Sonitrol of Delaware Valley, which covers the Philadelphia, Delaware and South Jersey area. We are known for our strong local customer service, expert technicians and professional monitoring center.
What is meant by “Verified” Electronic Security?
Sonitrol has the ability to detect an intrusion in real time using audio intrusion detection technology. This means we can hear the break-in as it’s occurring. Properties protected by Sonitrol’s unique impact-activated audio verification technology are remotely monitored by operators from our own monitoring center. In the event a possible intrusion is detected, one of Sonitrol’s highly trained operators automatically receives the live audio feed from the protected facility. If the operator identifies the sounds as an actual break-in, only then is local law enforcement enlisted to respond to the alarm. The process of audio verification allows local law enforcement to efficiently strategize their response and maximize their resources, while saving the customer from unnecessary false alarm fines.
Service after the sale is so important. How does Sonitrol handle this?
Again, Sonitrol is unique in that unlike any other security company, we back our technology up with our unparalleled “commitment to service,” which covers performance, product satisfaction, service, and false alarm guarantees. If we miss an intrusion and the police are not notified, Sonitrol will pay up to the first $10,000 of your loss in addition to any money received from your insurance company.
