Sonitrol Security Celebrates 170,000 Successful Apprehensions

Sonitrol Security has assisted in more than 170,000 documented apprehensions - approximately one every 111 minutes - within the last 36 years. "Sonitrol Security is extremely proud of its track record, and we think the apprehension statistics speak for themselves," says Sonitrol Security Director Bruce Winner.  "It's one thing to have video surveillance and remote monitoring on your phone or tablet, and we do that, but with Sonitrol Security you have a live, professionally trained operator monitoring your facility 24/7, ready to LISTEN-in when your system is armed." The firm's audio verification technology has assisted local law enforcement agencies in confiming an intrusion in REAL TIME, ultimately reducing false alarms.  The technology proves to be valuable for both police officers responding to alarms and end users, as a growing number of municipalities have passed verified response regulations. "False alarms are wasting a lot of officers' time, but with Sonitrol Security, we feel more...

Sonitrol Security Celebrates 50 Years of Protecting Property

Sonitrol Security confirms 170,093 apprehensions as of September 22, 2013 and counting! For decades, Sonitrol has defined itself as a security company known for the apprehension of burglars and intruders. Since opening the first franchise in June 1964, Sonitrol’s unique impact activated, audio intrusion detection technology has provided business customers and homeowners with wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling protection with real-time monitoring and alarm verification The key benefit to impact-activated audio security systems is their ability to monitor an entire space with early detection and verification of an intrusion. This results in a much quicker law enforcement response time that leads to apprehensions. Unlike conventional alarm systems, which may only rely on door switches and motion sensors to trigger an alarm transmission, Sonitrol’s audio-based verified alarms provide detection for all points of entry — including windows, vents, ceilings and roofs. Each activation is then directly monitored by trained audio specialists to confirm the authenticity of a...

    How to Reduce False Alarms

The event of a security system's alarm being inadvertently activated, or a false alarm being triggered, is a growing issue that extends far beyond inconvenience. A professionally installed security system is designed to provide users protection from loss of property; physical damage and even personal injury.  However, when local authorities are constantly dispatched in response to false alarms, this not only results in losses of both taxpayer-funded work time and money, but also cultivates a habit of hesitation among law enforcement officials when a real alarm signal is received. In the event of a true emergency, the impact that the high volume of false alarms can have on the appropriate and timely response from law enforcement, as well as the peace of mind and well-being of a community, can become increasingly problematic. False alarms continue to be an ongoing problem in the security industry, as 95% of all reported alarm calls into law...
