Why Conventional Security Systems Don’t Work
Conventional security systems have been used in the work place for many decades and they still remain popular for many businesses today.
However, conventional security systems have security problems that you should be aware of. They are not effective because they are easily beaten and do not receive a Police Response. They may use motion detectors and door contacts but they cause nothing but false alarms and user headaches. This is not an alarm system that a criminal would be afraid of, nor is it a deterrent.
In fact, it’s widely recorded by Police that conventional alarm systems have a 98% false alarm rate, and therefore the Police either won’t respond or will put their response time lower on the priority list of alarms to respond to.
So why even spend the money on a Conventional security system that does not deter thieves or get a police response?
In order to tackle the high volume of false alarms yearly, cities across America have implemented alarm prevention programs. Alarm registration requirements and fees have been put into effect in order to reduce Police response.
A False Alarm Reduction Program requires all home owners, small businesses, and large businesses to purchase an alarm permit yearly. The Police will respond to an alarm, ONLY if the security system owner has an updated permit. If more than three false alarms are detected in one year, the security systems owner’s permit will be suspended. At this point, fines are issued.
Some conventional security companies are even giving their clients tips on how to reduce false alarms. They have created a program called “Enhanced Call Verification” and have made it available free to their customers. ECV is a program where operators at the security systems monitoring centers call the client, tell them they have an alarm and ask the client what they would like the operator to do…. great security system… call the client and ask them what they think the security company should do. This is their way of preventing false alarms. But even this is not effective – what if they can’t get hold of the client or the clients says send the police and it is still a false alarm?
There is a better way to secure your business.
A Sonitrol Verified Alarm System, on the other hand, will have only a 3% false alarm rate and get priority response by your local Police Department because Police know that Sonitrol only installs security systems that are verified by listening or watching your facility. Since 1977 police have apprehended over 172,845 criminals in the act by responding promptly to Sonitrol Security calls for service.
Your business is not properly protected without a Sonitrol Security Verified Security System. A Verified Security System means that when an alarm is triggered it is verified by a Sonitrol trained operator at one of our monitoring facilities, where they are able to detect if the alarm is false or not. Ensuring that your security system is verified allows Police to arrive on the scene promptly rather than if you were using a non-verified, conventional security system. This ensures that Police time is not wasted.
Do the right thing to properly secure your business, deter criminals from even attempting to break into your facility and make your community safer by offering police the opportunity to respond to real calls for help rather than responding to false alarms. Get a free consultation and a security audit of your work place to see what Verified Security Systems are right for your business.
Sonitrol Security has been saying it for years…. If it is not verified it is simply guessing!!!
