Sonitrol Security Celebrates 170,000 Successful Apprehensions
Sonitrol Security has assisted in more than 170,000 documented apprehensions – approximately one every 111 minutes – within the last 36 years.
“Sonitrol Security is extremely proud of its track record, and we think the apprehension statistics speak for themselves,” says Sonitrol Security Director Bruce Winner. “It’s one thing to have video surveillance and remote monitoring on your phone or tablet, and we do that, but with Sonitrol Security you have a live, professionally trained operator monitoring your facility 24/7, ready to LISTEN-in when your system is armed.”
The firm’s audio verification technology has assisted local law enforcement agencies in confiming an intrusion in REAL TIME, ultimately reducing false alarms. The technology proves to be valuable for both police officers responding to alarms and end users, as a growing number of municipalities have passed verified response regulations.
“False alarms are wasting a lot of officers’ time, but with Sonitrol Security, we feel more confident responding to a call for one of their alarms,” says Robert Stack, assistant chief for Lexington, Kentucky Division of Police. “The audio verification provides us the ability to respond more quickly and tactically to an in-progress break-in. Any time we have real time information, it affects how fast an officer responds and how they approach the situation. As far as the officer is concerned, it makes a huge difference.”
Founded in 1964 as a pest control business, Sonitrol Security operates 26 central monitoring stations throughout the United States and Canada. In addition to audio intrusion alarms, the firm offers monitored video, access control and fire detection. Since 1977, the firm has been tracking apprehensions.
